A February 7 event addresseed “The Opioid Crisis: What We Don’t Fix Cannot Heal” and honored 15 support specialists.
The Lucy Hobbs Project, powered by Benco Dental, in collaboration with host River Park Dental recognized 15 local support specialists at a February 7 event that drew 95 attendees.
Honorees included Christy Pierce (EFDA), Kenzie Cass (Dental Assistant), Lisa Rager (EFDA, owner of @DependableDental ).
Phing Saurer, DDS, PhD led the event as emcee at Brick House Blue, Dublin, Ohio.
Due to the generosity of the following businesses: Fado Pub and Kitchen, Cap City Fine Diner, Mesh Fitness, RAM Restaurant, Fukuryu Ramen, Zero Wallet, Bend Active, AC Marriot, Sweetwater, Brick House Blue, Flourish Chiropractic, Ultradent) the event was able to raise $700 from raffle tickets for “A Voice for Sean”. Dr. Phing Saurer matched the amount raised to donate $1400 total to nonprofit created by Dr. Sharon Parsons for opioid addiction education and advocacy after the loss of her adult son, Sean, to an opioid overdose.
Lucy Hobbs Humanitarian Award recipient SHARON PARSONS, DDS, shared the importance of prevention and opioid harm. A speaker and activist, Dr. Sharon Parsons founded the nonprofit “A Voice for Sean” for opioid addiction education and advocacy after the loss of her adult son, Sean, to an opioid overdose.
Counselor and recovering addict JENN STOTTLEMIRE shared her personal experience of addiction and recovery. Her story included key components to avoid enabling current addicts.
Lead instructor for Recovering Yoga RACHEL BERTNER spoke to the importance of self awareness toward personal health on a physical, mental, and spiritual level in the professional world.
